Carrot Dal



Ingredients

1 cup chopped carrots
1 cup green gram dal
2 tsp oil
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
Few curry leaves
2 Green chillies slit into half
Salt to taste
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp lemon juice
Finely chopped coriander leaves to garnish
1/2 tsp ginger paste
A bit of asafoetida

Cook the greengram dal and carrots together till soft.

Heat oil, add mustard and cumin seeds. When it splutters, add curry leaves and green chillies. Then add turmeric, cooked dal and carrots, ginger paste and asafoetida. Cook for five minutes.

Switch off the stove and add lemon juice. Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves.

Serve hot with rotis/rice.

nice touch to dal with carrots. but some how i like them raw than cooked version. and in another way i am one huge dal lover, so gonna try is asap:)

Looks great!! I usually also add onions, and instead of adding lemon juice, add tomatoes along with carrots.. really nice recipe with lemon juice.. will try:-)
